The Problem

Every gym session, the same conversation: "What are you doing today?" "Can you send me that workout?"

We'd used workout trackers for years: great diaries, completely solo. We wanted to see what each other was actually doing. Not Instagram posts. Real sessions, real numbers, PBs.

Sharing meant screenshots and retyping. By the time you'd pieced it together, the motivation was fading.

The Slow Year

We learned as we built. Slowly. Angus was finishing his masters, life was busy, and progress came an evening at a time.

Astrophysics and Aerospace Engineering meant the logic was the easy bit. Design, UX and backend we picked up feature by feature.

After a year we had a good chunk of an app and a decision to make.

Thailand

Then two grants landed: one from the University of Liverpool, one from The King's Trust. We had enough to actually afford to do this properly.

So we went all in. Angus's dad lives in Thailand, so we moved out there with one job: finish it.

Three months, every day, easily 12-hour days. We built the rest of SYNCT, beta tested it, and got it live on both app stores before we flew home.

Today

We're back home now: aviation jobs by day, SYNCT in every hour around them.

The app is live, and people we've never met are sending each other workouts. Strangers, syncing sessions. That part still feels slightly unreal.
